to the Colby School website.
Colby School is situated between the market towns of Aylsham and North
Walsham, a semi-rural area of North Norfolk. It has 144 pupils aged from
4 – 11 years old. 76% of our children come from out of catchment to attend
our school, due to our reputation of living by our ethos: “Everyone Learns,
Everyone Leads and Everyone Matters”.
Reception attainment on entry is generally slightly above average, but with a wide range of learning abilities. We work closely with families to provide the best start to school life, including running a successful weekly Stay and Play group for pre-school children, offering Family Learning sessions and a lending library for learning games for use at home. Children go on to make great progress throughout the school.
Colby is a happy school, where the whole community works together for continual school improvement. Leaders are committed to providing professional development for all staff and volunteers and this is a key feature in the success of our school as we are highly qualified, enthusiastic learners who lead by example.
Children take a large variety of leadership roles in every day school life, including School Council, Eco Committee, Tiny Teachers, House Captains and Head Boy and Head Girl. A Leadership Display in the front entrance shows the importance of these roles and includes job descriptions written by the children.
Parents take an active and enthusiastic role in school improvement and development. Many parents regularly support teaching and learning. Some parents share their own areas of expertise or interest to enhance the school curriculum. The whole school community working together and sharing expertise, shows commitment to the vision “Everyone Learns, Everyone Leads, Everyone Matters”.
You may be viewing our website because you are considering which school to send your child to. If that is the case, we hope you will enjoy looking through the pages telling you about school life at Colby School. We recommend you read our weekly newsletters for more details about what we do and what we believe is important. The newsletters can be found in the News and Events section.
Pre-school children and their families are very welcome to attend our weekly Stay and Play sessions which take place on Wednesdays between 9 – 10.15am. Stay and Play is an opportunity for pre-school children to get to know Colby School and for you to meet other families, staff and Colby pupils.
If you would like to arrange to come and look round Colby School, please telephone the school office on 01263 733381. Mrs Mead will be delighted to show you around and answer your questions.
